Rating method

How we rank teachers

The displayed rating is the real average

A teacher’s displayed rating is the arithmetic average of overall ratings from approved reviews. We show an average only when a teacher has at least 3 approved reviews. Below that threshold, approved reviews can still appear, but no average is displayed.

Ranking balances rating and review count

The ranking uses review count as well as rating, so a teacher with only a few high reviews cannot automatically outrank a teacher with many strong reviews.

Ranking score = (n × R + 5 × C) / (n + 5)

Here, n is the approved review count, R is the teacher’s average overall rating, and C is the site-wide average of approved overall ratings. The prior weight is 5.

This score only orders the ranking. It never changes the real average rating displayed for a teacher.

Only a positive ranking is published

The site publishes a top-rated list for teachers who meet the minimum. It does not publish a lowest-rated list.
